The annual golf outing is almost here!

The WCMA golf outing is currently sold out for foursomes. However, spots are still available for the post golf outing dinner. Dinner cost is $35 for a delicious grilled to order steak and chicken dinner. Stop by to network with friends and fellow businesses. You will still receive a great door prize and a chance to win at our 50/50 and raffle prize drawings. You must register for dinner no later than August 28th.

Speaking of sold out, if you would like to get your business in front our 150+ golf outing guests, we are still looking for door prize donations for the outing. Donate logoed gift items, prizes or gift cards with your company information included. All door prize donors will be listed in our program at the outing.

WCMA June Meeting

The next monthly meeting of the WCMA will be held on Thursday June 1, 2017.  We will start the evening by meeting at Western Area Career & Technology Center. Following the tour, we will proceed to the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe for networking and dinner.

Western Area CTC has been the premier career & technology center in Washington County since 1973. Created through an innovative partnership of 9 school districts in Washington County, WACTC offers 14 different career training programs at no personal cost to high school students in it’s sending districts as well as tuition based daytime and evening adult education training programs. In addition  WACTC also offers customized workforce training programs for local companies to help in crease the skills of their existing workforce.

As the type of businesses in Washington County change and the technology of manufacturing evolves, so does Western Area CTS. A unique blend of public education and industry partnerships allow WACTC to stay current with the workforce needs of the region, helping to prepare both the curent and future workforce for your company’s needs. If you have not been out to the school in a while, we encourage you to come and see our 17 different state of the art career training labs that help prepare the workforce of today and tomorrow. Additionally as a special treat as we go on our summer hiatus, we will have the members of the Titanium Titans High School Robotics Team at the dinner with some of their 120lb robots for the members to drive through an obstacle course.

May Meeting Info

Industrial Gasket & Shim, Co. Inc. Was founded in 1961 by Kenneth Desch. The company was owned by the Desch Family until 2012 when it was sold to the employees and the new management changed the name of the company to IGS Industries, Inc.

IGS Industries is a custom part and salant manufacturing company of over 120,000 square feet and 120 employees. It offers both stock and custom metal work parts, non-metallic, parts, brand-name and custom sealants, gaskets and shims. Manufacturing processes include: stamping, laser cutting, waterjet cutting and CNC Machining.

WCMA April Meeting

The WCMA April Meeting will be held on Thursday,April 13,2017. Please note date change to the second Thursday in April. We will be touring Penn Commercial Business & Technical School followed by dinner at the Union Grill.

Penn Commercial offers training in four disciplines including Technical, Medical,Business and Spa & Salon. In December 2016, Penn Commercial began construction of the new Technology Center which includes:

•Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CAD)

• Electrician

•Heating.Ventilation.Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-Rl

•Welding Technology

We are in Phase 1 of three phases of construction of the new labs.

In addition to the construction of the new HVAC lab,Penn Commercial is proud to be the second school in the United States to be a Lennox partner school. All the residential equipment in the lab is provided by Lennox. The commercial equipment is provided by Carrier. The Residential and Commercial wiring lab and the PLC and motor control lab for Electricians have already been completed. In addition,we are in talks with Lincoln Electric to become a Lincoln partner school for welding.

All our technical programs will prepare students with in-depth knowledge about the latest technologies and equipment. Our instructors also ensure that students will have an engaging learning experience that will keep our students experiencing the latest technology.The technical and trade fields are constantly evolving,and that requires constantly updated content and practices. At Penn Commercial,our goal is to prepare students for employment in the technical and trade field through extensive exposure to current practices and a well-rounded learning experience.

Students in the Technical & Trade Programs benefit from a complete learning experience in which they are able to train using the kind of technology,tools and resources they are likely to find when they are employed in the field. Our faculty is formed by skilled teachers with years of experience,who are ready to share their knowledge and prepare students for real-life challenges.

By focusing on engaging employers in taking workplace action against partner violence, STANDING FIRM broadens the social network of support for victims and encouragement for batterers to reconsider the consequences of their behavior, in the context of improving the well-being of the workforce and safety of the workplace. WCMA February Meeting

The WCMA February Meeting will be on Thursday February 2nd and is a tour of Mingo Creek Distilling in Washington followed by dinner at the Union Grill.

Relax and enjoy a whiskey cocktail as you walk through Mingo Creek’s warmly restored turn-of-the-century monument factory.  You will learn about the history of the whiskey rebellion in Washington along with the in’s and out’s of the production area with Mingo Creek’s 300-gallon, American-made pot still, water treatment area, grain storage and grinding,  barrel racks and aging process, and material handling process which utilizes our 100-year-old overhead crane and a cement hopper.  The tour will finish in the Tinker Dining Room with a flight of our whiskeys to try.

The WCMA Holiday Party will be on Thursday December 8th at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe. We will enjoy a pleasant evening of music from the Jenny Wilson Duo, dinner and great conversation. We encourage you to bring your significant other to our gathering. As in previous years, we will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots. If you are able please bring a new, unwrapped toy  to donate. The Toys for Tots program is run by the US Marines and helps families and especially children in our area to h ave a brighter Christmas. The increased needs of children in our community have fostered our desire to support this program. The goal of our efforts is to place a smile on a child’s face this Holiday season through the simple act of giving! Last year this chapter of Toys for Tots, gave 34,661 toys to 4,332 children.  In the last ten years they have given 143,086 toys to 21,558 children!

Any brand new toys still in their original box and/or monetary donations are greatly appreciated.  If you are giving a money donation, please make check payable to “Toys for Tots”.  No cash please.

We strongly encourage toys made in America!
