WCMA Holiday Party

Join us for our Annual Holiday Party on Thursday, November 29th!

The WCMA Annual Holiday Party will be on Thursday, November 29th at 6pm at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe. We will enjoy a festive cocktail hour with music by Jenny Wilson followed by a holiday dinner and the company of our friends! We encourage you to bring your spouse or significant other to this event. We will also be collecting donations for Toys for Tots, so please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to local children in need this holiday season! As always, we encourage you to bring a toy manufactured in the US.

The cost for the dinner is $25.00 per person and may be paid in advance with a check to the Association, Box BE, Washington, PA 15301, or you may pay at the desk the evening of the meeting. Please note, because we guarantee the number of meals, if you make reservations, but cannot attend, your company will be charged for the dinner if you do not cancel in advance. WCMA November meeting

The next monthly meeting of the WCMA will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018. We will be meeting for a tour of Davan Manufacturing..

For our November meeting, we will be touring Davan Manufacturing located in Washington, PA. Davan Manufacturing Inc is a second generation Precision Machining Company in our 50th year of operation.It is a production job shop specializing in producing precision machined components in all metals and plastics in lots from ten to thousands. Sizes range from 1/4″ diameter to 36″ diameter. Specializing in 3 & 4 axis mill/turned parts as well as up to 4 axis milling . Automated bar feed work from 1/4″ to 3″ diameter. Automated coordinate measuring as well as 3D CAD modeling capabilities.

OCTOBER MEETING

The next monthly meeting of the WCMA will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018. We will be meeting for a tour of Langeloth Mettallurgical Company, LLC.

For our October meeting, we will be touring Langeloth Metallurgical Company, LLC located in Langeloth, PA. Langeloth Metallurgical Company (LMC) produces molybdenum products. The Company offers technical and pure oxide, technical oxide briquettes, ferromolybdenum, and high performance molybdenum products to chemical, food processing, metallurgical, and metals finishing industry sectors. LMC is now a subdivision of Centerra Gold whom acquired their previous owner, Thompson Creek Metals Company, Inc. in 2016. The Langeloth facility is one of the largest toll conversion plants in the world with a roasting capacity of 36 million pounds of molybdenum and 9 million pounds of molybdenum oxide as ferromolybdenum.

Directions: Langeloth Mettalurgical can be reached by taking Rte. 18 North towards Burgettstown. Turn left onto W. Market St. When Market St. bears left quickly after making the left turn it becomes Langeloth Rd. Near the top of the hill, turn left on to Vance Dr.

Meet our scholarship winner

Ben Zeisloft, is this year’s WCMA Scholarship recipient. Ben is currently a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania at the Wharton School, studying economics with concentrations in finance and management. Ben spent his past summer in Kenya working with a non-profit organization to train teachers in the Mathare Valley Slums. Ben would like to thank WCMA for sponsoring his scholarship to attend U Penn, he notes that it has definitely made buying books easier this semester!

Thank you to everyone who works so hard to make our annual golf outing a success. The proceeds from the golf outing fund our scholarship program and enable us to help great students like Ben who are interested in furthering manufacturing in PA!

 

 

WCMA 2018 Golf Outing

The WCMA golf outing is currently sold out for foursomes. However, spots are still available for the post golf outing dinner. Dinner cost is $35 for a delicious grilled to order steak and chicken dinner. Stop by to network with friends and fellow businesses. You will still receive a great door prize and a chance to win at our 50/50 and raffle prize drawings. You must register for dinner no later than August 28th.

Speaking of sold out, if you would like to get your business in front our 150+ golf outing guests, there are still hole sponsorships available for just $50/each and we are still looking for door prize donations for the outing. Donate logoed gift items, prizes or gift cards with your company information included. All hole sponsors and door prize donors will be listed in our program at the outing.

June Meeting

The next monthly meeting of the WCMA will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018. We will be meeting for a tour and discussion at the PPG Paints Retail store in Peters Twp.

Join us as we visit a PPG Paints to learn about the Global Color Trends program, their transition from paint to coatings and their product line. PPG Paints Color Consultant Rosa Colucci and Brad Temple Account Manager and NACE Coatings expert will be our hosts as we learn how to mix paint and more. We will meet first at PPG Paints for the program and then have dinner and social hour at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe.

May Meeting

Our program for the evening will be a presentation titled “The 2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: What Businesses and Individuals Need to Know”. Our speakers will be Marnie W. Babich, CPA and Jacob W. Cuthbert, Financial Advisor. Marnie is a director at BKD CPAs and Advisors and Jacob is a Financial Advisor with Waddell and Reed, Inc.

Some of the points to be covered will be:

Corporate & Individual tax rate changes
Bonus depreciation & Section 179 changes
Interest expense deduction changes
Changes to itemized deductions specifically the limit on state & local, real estate& personal property tax deductions
Repeal of IRC 199 (the 9% of mfg income deduction) & creation of IRC199A (pass-through business deduction)
Changes to the M&E rules

Max has 20 years of business experience in roles as a corporate attorney, entrepreneur, non-profit leader, and educator.  He is currently and Assistant Professor and Director of Entrepreneurial Studies at Washington & Jefferson College and the President and Founder of Raise Your Spirits, a sensory experience firm that integrates fine craft spirits tastings into multiple platforms.  Most recently Max served as the COO of Urban Innovation21 and the Chief Administrative Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America’s national office.  Prior to that, he served as the founding director of the Innovation Practice Institute at Pitt Law. Max cut his teeth in the corporate world as an attorney/marketer for Heinz (7 years) and as an attorney for Federated Investors (4 years).
